Yesterday we hiked to the top of Table Mountain.
The trailhead is up Teton Creek, east of Driggs, Idaho.
It was a beautiful hike up with lots of wildflowers
and waterfalls. We were planning to take photos
on the way back down, but after we left the top,
a hail storm came in and we decided to come
down the face trail. The view from the top
is awesome and we had a great day.
That is Table Mountain in the skyline,
between the Grand and Middle Tetons.
This sign is at the bottom of the face trail.
We went up the north fork trail, so we didn't
see the sign until we were done. We agree
with the sign - this trail is not recommeded
for old folks - we'll leave it for you youngsters.
We had intended to come back down on the
north fork trail, but after the storm we were
concerned about the extra water in the creeks,
and when we saw the creek at the bottom,
I think we made the right choice.
After the hike we drove up to Grand Targhee
and these photos are from the road.
Table mountain is in front of the Grand,
just above the patch of snow.
Score
Miles hiked: 10
6 up and 4 down, straight down.
Vertical gain: 4,100 feet
Table Mountain elevation: 11,106
Climate: Going up - sunny, hot and dry.
On the way down - hail, lightning, thunder, rain, flash floods.

Yay! I am glad you were able to make it to table rock!! I loved that hike! Except it was so steep. We came down the face too, and I remember it being so hard.
