Amphitheater and Surprise Lakes

Today Amy and Jim hiked to Amphitheater
and Surprise Lakes in Grand Teton National Park.
The lakes are still frozen over and we were
walking in snow for the last mile or so.
It was a beautiful day.

 Amy at Amphitheater Lake.
Elevation 9698 feet.
That's the lake behind her.

Here's a snowball for all my silly friends
and family that have chosen to live in Texas.

Lots of snow for the last mile or so.
It was a lot faster coming down
than it was going up.

Amy and Jim at Surprise Lake.
Elevation 9540 feet

 Amy at Surprise Lake.
The ice is starting to break up around the edges.

 Overlooking Bradley and Taggart Lakes.

That's Jenny Lake in the Background.

The Sunflowers were beautiful at the middle elevations.
My hiking partner is beautiful at all levels.

SCORE
Miles hiked:  10
Elevation gain:  2958 feet
New blisters:  0
Tired feet and legs:  4
Fun: We haven't had this much fun since last week.
