Another Hike of the Year - September 6

On the trail again.
Today Jim, Amy and Jared hiked another amazing 20 mile hike.
In Grand Teton Park we hiked from String Lake
up Paintbrush Canyon past Holly Lake and over Paintbrush
Divide and down Cascade Canyon past Lake Solitude
to Jennie Lake and back to String lake.
This was an amazing hike and it was a beautiful day.
We hiked from 6800 feet to 10,700 feet and down again.
We were thankfull to have Jared with us to push us along
or we would have been hiking out in the dark.
We have now hiked 150 miles this summer.

The lakes in the background are Leigh Lake and Jackson Lake.

Holly Lake is a pretty lake, but smaller than Lake Solitude.

Glaciers above Holly Lake.

Near the top of the divide.

That is the south side of Mount Moran behind me.

Jared and Mount Woodring.

We had to cross one snow field to get to the divide.

On top. The tall peak on the right is Teewinot.

The lake in the basin across Cascade Canyon is Mica Lake.

The Grand Teton is the tall peak in the background.

Today we saw lots of wildlife. We saw a deer,
several elk and a coyote. On the trail, in a dense forested area
we spooked a moose and a bear. They were both just a few yards
away and too close to photograph.
We also saw several dozen rock chucks and this critter.
He was bigger and blacker than the rock chucks,
but we are not sure what it is.
