Hike of the Week - July 31

Today we hiked from the Goodwin Lake trailhead
up past the lake and down Cache Creek to Jackson.
We left our truck at the Cache Creek trailhead and
Dad took us up to the Goodwin Lake trailhead and
dropped us off. We were a little nervous because
the weather forcast looked a little shaky, but we only
got rained on twice for about a mile each. The rest
of the day was beautiful. The views coming down
Cache Creek were marvelous. This hike was fifteen miles
and we are really tired tonight. We will see how we feel
tomorrow and decide if we think we can make it the
twenty-one miles from Goodwin Lake to Granite.
The wild flowers up near the pass were really nice.

The mountain in the background is Jackson Peak.
This is the peak we climbed last week.
(Elevation 10,741 feet)
Goodwin Lake is at the bottom of the rise
at the far right side of the ridge.

Turquoise Lake and Granite Creek are just over the pass
on the far left of this photo.

These little ponds are near the pass down into Cache Creek.
I couldn't find a name for the mountain in the background,
so I have named it "Mount Amy".
(Pronounced with a bit of a French accent.)

On the way home we saw the most beautiful
complete double rainbow that we have ever seen.
It was so close that I couldn't get a picture of the whole thing.
I turned on the XM radio to Channel 28 and the song
that was playing was "Somewhere over the Rainbow".
What a great day. !!!
"... all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth,
and all things that are upon the face of it ... do witness
that there is a Supreme Creator." Alma 30:44
