41.1 Miles

Today Amy and Jim went for another bike ride
in the Park. Jared was in Denver with the High
School Orchestra, so it was just the two of us.
Amy went last Saturday with the family, and again
on Monday with some ladies from the Ward,
so this was her third ride in eight days.

We started at the Taggart Lake parking area and rode
north past Signal Mountain and the dam, and turned around
here at Oxbow Bend. We saw a huge grizzly bear
on the flat north of the dam. We got a real good look
through a guy's binoculars, but thankfully it wasn't close
enough to get a good picture. I don't think I could outrun
Amy, and I know I couldn't outrun the bear.

Fond memories of home at Signal Mountain Lodge.

Playing in the snow at Jenny Lake overlook.

We had a great day. It was especially beautiful this morning.
We got into a stiff headwind on the last five miles this afternoon,
but when we made it back to the truck, we had gone 41.1 miles.
We saw lots of wildlife on the way to and from Jackson.
The animals were heading north out of the refuge
and we saw herds of elk and buffalo.
This morning we saw three moose at Moose Junction.
Of course we stopped at Merry Piglets in Jackson
for dinner, before heading home.
