~~~~ HIKE OF THE WEEK ~~~~
Today Amy and Jim hiked to the Lower and Upper
Palisades Lakes. These lakes are up Palisades Creek
which is below the dam about a mile. The hike was
about thirteen miles round trip with a vertical gain
of about 1200 feet. We hiked for three hours each way.
We are in training for some longer hikes for later
this summer. In July we plan to make the loop up
Strawberry and out the north fork of Willow Creek.
In August we would like to hike from the Goodwin
Lake trailhead, past Goodwin and Turquoise Lakes
and end up at Granite Hot Springs - about twenty miles.
In September we would like to hike in Grand Teton National
Park and make a loop up Cascade Canyon to Lake Solitude
and over the divide and to Holly Lake and down Paintbrush
Canyon. If anyone would like to go let us know. I would like
to have someone along that could carry me out if I
can't make it all the way.
Today, for the first time in my life, I bought a non-resident
Idaho Fishing License. It was $12.75 and the limit was
two fish, so these scrawny Idaho cutthroats cost me
$6.37 and a half each. But the hike was priceless.
Hold them a little closer and they look a little bigger !!!
This is Amy at the upper lake.
The upper lake is real green and pretty.
There were several waterfalls. Jared and I need
to go back up with his camera and a tripod
and get some good pictures.
This is the lower lake.
The trail goes up a beautiful canyon.
Great place to rest.
(Any place is a great place to rest)
End of a great hike.
We came home and ate fish
for the third time this week.
Looks like so much fun. Calvin and I really want to do the Goodwin Lake to Granite Hike with you. I hope it works out.
