We had the opportunity of spending last week in Nauvoo.
Jared and his friends, Kaden Heiner and Richard Rogers
attended the "Especially for Youth" program at Nauvoo
for the week, so we took them out and enjoyed the week.
We were able to visit with Carrie and Troy in their new home
in Des Moines, Iowa on our way out and back.
They joined us in Nauvoo on Saturday.
The highlight of our week was spending part of each day doing ordinance work in the temple.
The flowers on the temple grounds and the historic sites were beautiful.
We always feel a special spirit at the old Nauvoo cemetery.
The view from the "Trail of Hope" on Parley's Street.I need to go back in the fall to take this photo again.

This statue is of Joseph and Hyrum lookingback at Nauvoo before leaving for Carthage.
Carrie and Troy and the girls arrived Friday night and spent the day with us on Saturday. We visited
lots of the sites, ate at the Nauvoo Hotel buffet, and
visited Carthage, before driving back to Des Moines.
We took the carriage ride around Nauvoo. The girls loved the horses.
The girls were a little more cautious around the oxen. This new demonstration and wagon ride showed the
advantages of oxen over horses for the trek west.
One of the signs on the "Trail of Hope" on Parley Street.Sister Pratt must be related to some
of the women in our family.
On the way home we stopped in Omaha, Nebraska at the Pioneer Trails visitor center, and walked around
the cemetery and the temple.
